Residential Project Manager

Position Overview:

SunBug Solar is looking for a high impact individual to project manage residential renewable energy projects with a focus on our new construction customers and storage solutions. The successful candidate must be comfortable addressing the needs of a wide and varied stakeholder group. The project manager will engage with new and existing clients to onboard new solar and battery storage projects, to see that project contracts are executed successfully, efficiently, and to specification in an organized fashion. The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, possess excellent communications skills, and be detail oriented.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist project team to ensure residential solar and battery storage projects are effectively managed from pre-contract through completion, including:

• Conduct site feasibility surveys, including roof measurement, structural assessment, and electrical equipment layout

• Finalize storage projects system designs

• Contribute to system design process as needed

• Prepare projects including staging special equipment and materials, acquiring special permits, and hiring any necessary sub-contractors

• Assist with system setup and commissioning

• Communicate with all project stakeholders including clients, financiers, town and utility officials, contractors, and coworkers

• Respond to issues that arise in a professional and timely manner

• Leverage SunBug’s internal systems to capture relevant project data and to drive best practices, lessons learned and efficiencies across multiple teams and projects

• Assist in the evaluation of budget-to-actual financials on a project basis and implement strategies to improve safety, quality, and profitability.

 

Qualifications:

• Three years of project management experience in a fast-paced high-volume construction setting, preferably in solar

• Familiarity with construction plans and schematics

• Working knowledge of the structure of buildings

• Working knowledge of electrical systems

• Interest in or experience with battery systems

• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Comfortable on roofs and construction settings

Preferred but not required:

• Construction Supervisor’s License, Electrical License, or NABCEP certification
