Second Street Associates, LLC
Second Street Associates is a real estate developer in South Boston, currently building a 65 residential unit Passivhaus, along with a café, food store, greenhouse, theatre, roof gardens, and transportation system for the 300 people on the site. Passivhaus buildings use 90% – 95% less energy for heating and cooling than new buildings to code, and 70% reductions overall. We use environmentally state-of-the-art materials and technologies, most imported from Europe. We are developing innovative technologies around interior air quality, transportation, urban food, health and exercise, and natural light management.
Selfhelp Realty Group
Selfhelp Realty Group/ The Melamid Institute for Affordable Housing is the real estate development and property management entity of Selfhelp Community Services. Founded in 1939 to assist Holocaust survivors arriving in NYC, we own over 1,500 residential units, run Senior Centers, and provide social services assistance to 20,000 NYers. Our pipeline includes 430 units currently in construction, an additional 135 units scheduled to start this Fall, and several hundred units in the design and planning phase.

Smith College Center For The Environment
The Center for the Environment, Ecological Design and Sustainability (CEEDS) exists with one purpose: We facilitate academic and applied experiences for students that help them excel at integrating knowledge across disciplines, in support of environmental decisions and action. We work to integrate sustainable practices into Smith’s operations and connect campus operations with student learning. We also support faculty in their efforts to deepen their understanding of salient environmental issues and to integrate those issues into the curricula. I also provide energy efficiency education for building professionals.
