Taitem Engineering has multiple opportunities for building sustainability consultants and energy practitioners with all levels of experience to join its Energy + Sustainability Department. The successful candidates will focus on a variety of projects relating to implementation of energy retrofits in existing buildings and construction of new high-performance buildings. This position offers the opportunity to work with Taitem’s experienced team of building energy engineers and analysts who are eager to share their knowledge.

Taitem supports a flexible work environment, with in-office, work-from-home, and on-site work. The successful candidate must, however, be able to meet with project stakeholders and conduct site visits and inspections at project sites in the Ithaca, New York area and at other locations in New York.
Responsibilities may include:
- preparing energy feasibility studies for new construction and retrofits
- confirming technical viability of proposed energy conservation measures
- review of baseline conditions, ECM savings, calculations, workscopes, M&V approach/plans, capital cost estimates, operating parameters
- review of engineering drawings and project submittals
- working with design and construction teams to ensure compliance with programs or third-party standards such as Energy Star, Passive House, EGC, and NYSERDA NCP
- consulting with project stakeholders as part of an integrated design team

Desired Skills
- ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
- familiarity with HVAC equipment
- first-hand knowledge of the building construction process
- experience with third-party building standards such as Energy Star, Passive House, Enterprise Green Communities, and NYS-agency-specific building standards
- proficiency in MS Windows and Office, particularly Excel
Optional Qualifications
- knowledge of building energy systems, in particular for multifamily and commercial buildings
- energy modeling experience using eQUEST, HAP, Trane Trace or EnergyPlus, as well as WUFI Passive, THERM, or PHPP modeling.
- familiarity with the NYS Energy Conservation Construction Code
- building-energy-related certification, such as CEM, BPI, CPHC, HERS Rater
Compensation: The recruiting range for this position is between $25/hr and $45/hr depending on the skills and experience of the applicant. This is a full-time benefits-eligible position.
