Breaking the Design Bubble: Community Engagement and Youth Empowerment

The design profession has responded creatively and urgently to climate impacts, but there is more! We must ensure that design responses are socially equitable and tap into the immense knowledge and creativity that communities hold. In addition, expanding the design profession to diversify race/ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic background will enhance the ability to develop holistic and responsive designs. Join us for an interactive session as we unpack barriers and opportunities for community engagement, learn how to uplift voices, explore project examples, and hear how one non-profit empowers diverse youth to build a thriving, just, and equitable future.
