Clean Energy NH (CENH) is the leading statewide nonprofit organization working to advance a clean energy economy for all of New Hampshire. We deliver policy and technical expertise to empower businesses, municipalities, and policymakers to make informed energy decisions to lower costs, improve sustainability, and realize the other benefits of New Hampshire-based energy solutions.
CENH represents over 450 business, municipal and individual members throughout the state who turn to us as the leading clean energy policy organization in New Hampshire. The organization has played a leading role in crafting and defending key policies in support of transitioning to a clean energy economy: the energy efficiency resource standard, new net metering tariff, a battery storage pilot, the grid modernization process and electric vehicles charging rates.
CENH is a small, nimble organization, currently consisting of the executive director, a director of regulatory affairs, program coordinator and our North Country circuit rider. We are an organization poised for substantial growth, and this position will be key to that growth.
Job description: The deputy director oversees internal matters at CENH, as well as outreach to members and growth of our membership. This includes assisting this executive director in discovering and cultivating donors and other funding opportunities, and maintaining and overseeing our membership database. They are heavily engaged in our marquee events—the Local Energy Solutions Conference, and Drive Electric Week and will take part in developing new events to grow our donor base and business membership. They assist the Executive Director in finding grant opportunities and writing grants. They help manage our social media presence, newsletters and web presence.
Responsibilities:
The Deputy Director has the following responsibilities and duties:
● Manage our member and donor databases. Send renewal reminders to members. Work with members to organize events with the Executive Director to recruit new members.
● Oversee the Program Coordinator to organize the Local Energy Solutions Conference. This may include managing registrations, menu, room layouts, and agenda package as well as booking and making arrangements for speakers.
● Oversee the Program Coordinator to arrange logistics for Drive Electric Week: maintain a database of stakeholder contact information, organize regional Drive Electric Week events in different cities through New Hampshire.
● Promoting events through our media channels and to traditional media.
● Collaborating with the Executive Director to seek out grant opportunities and write grant proposals. Support Executive Director in proactively engaging with grantmakers in shaping grant proposals prior to writing them.
● Partake in the shared work of organizational administrative tasks—such as mailings, bill paying, and creating our annual report—along with the rest of the staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
Deputy Director should have the following skills, education and experience:
● Demonstrated professional involvement in and personal commitment to the mission of Clean Energy NH.
● Prior experience with event planning, as well as personal experience with virtual meeting and webinar software.
● Knowledge of customer database platforms including Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, i-contact, and/or MailChimp
● Grant writing experience.
● Strong interpersonal skills, and willingness to participate in fundraising efforts.
● Knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency policies.
● A demonstrated ability to quickly acquire new skills.
● A bachelor’s degree from an accredited OR 3-years experience in a position with relevant experience.
Compensation:
Clean Energy New Hampshire will provide the following compensation:
● Salary range: $47,000-$57,000 commensurate with experience.
● Comprehensive medical coverage, including dental.
● Simple IRA retirement saving plan with 3% employer match.
● Flexible work schedule that allows remote work if consistent with responsibilities. However, given the emphasis on events and networking with local businesses this position is based in Concord, NH.
