The Forest Products Marketing and Utilization Program provides technical assistance and policy development to improve connections between artisans, sawmills, and members of the design community. Since 1910, the program has sought to meet societal demand for energy and solid wood products via sustainable sourcing from diverse forest ecosystems. Notable projects include incorporation of local wood into 25% of total timber volume used for the Walden Pond Visitor Center and installation automated wood boilers to reduce fuel oil consumption at MassParks facilities by 30,000 gallons annually.
