Berardo focuses on research and development of next-generation building technologies through design-led innovation based on scientific rigor and enhancement of user experience. Berardo is a Doctoral Candidate in Architectural Sciences at the Center for Architecture Science and Ecology (CASE) at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Berardo leverages cross-disciplinary collaborations to accelerate innovation from academia into the marketplace, focusing on novel approaches for the personalization of the built environment and energy reduction, which have been recognized by the NEXUS-NY and Smartgeometry organizations. Prior to his doctoral research, Berardo worked in Italy and New York City, and he is the recipient of several design awards, including the Europe 40 Under 40 Design Award in 2012.
