Tom Chase is a Senior Program Manager for commercial building decarbonization on the High Performance Buildings team at MassCEC, which he joined in 2022. Prior to joining MassCEC, Tom was Director of Green Building Services at New Ecology, Inc. (NEI). At NEI he provided sustainable design guidance for a wide range of new construction and existing building projects including Passive House, LEED, Enterprise Green Communities, and ENERGY STAR certification and oversaw internal project teams. He was also the climate change adaptation lead, working in resilience planning and design for multifamily housing and critical facilities. Mr. Chase developed NEI’s climate change resiliency assessment protocol and tool to drive improvements in building performance and occupant health during and after extreme and chronic climate change impacts.
Tom is also expert in building decarbonization planning, solar photovoltaic applications, solar thermal, battery storage, and virtual net metering, power purchase agreements, and electric vehicle charging station technical and financial analysis. He has a background in ecology and urban environmental management and holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biology from Wesleyan University and a Master’s of Environmental Management from the Yale School of the Environment. He is a Certified Passive House Consultant and a Massachusetts State Certified Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness Provider.
