As a professional and an advocate, from the 1970s Energy Crisis up to today’s Climate Emergency, Fred’s career trajectory has found him to be a leader in and a connector between the clean-energy and efficient-lighting fields.
Fred is President of Fred Davis Corporation, wholesale supplier of energy-efficient lighting products since 1983; active in multi-family, weatherization, municipal markets nationwide. Fred helped introduce the world to compact fluorescents, electronic ballasts, and, most recently, LED streetlights. In the last decade, the company has helped more than 60 municipalities in MA and NH LED convert their streetlights to high-efficiency LED, reducing electricity consumption 60-90% in each case. He's presented on energy-efficient lighting worldwide and shared industry developments via Fred Davis Corporation's blog, the Lightening Volt.
As a long time NESEA enthusiast, Fred is grateful to have been awarded the 2019 Distinguished Service Award, which acknowledged his leadership and vision, particularly serving on the NESEA Board, and helping to lead NESEA to broaden its reach toward commercial-building markets in the 1980s.
Fred has served on the local and national boards of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, and was President of the Urban Solar Energy Association.
Fred is particularly proud of his recent leadership in community-organized climate activism. He is currently President of Jewish Climate Action Network and was Chair of Medfield (MA) Energy Committee 2019-22.
As of 2024, Fred is also a member of the Board of Directors of Massachusetts Climate Action Network.
