With twelve years of professional architectural experience, Yugon Kim is director of Tai Soo Kim Partners Boston Branch and founding partner of IKD. He recently curated the Urban Timber exhibition at the Boston Society of Architects that investigated the benefits of using timber in our urban cores. Prior to joining TSKP, he worked with the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Genova, Italy and in Boston, where he oversaw the recently completed addition at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. He also worked at Carlos Zapata Studio in New York City, NY and Wood+Zapata in Boston, MA for three years, on a wide range of projects. He chairs the Boston Society of Architects Museum and Exhibition Design Committee and co-chairs the Harvard Asian Alumni Alliance in Boston. He currently is a faculty member at Rhode Island School of design and he has taught design studios at Wentworth Institute of Technology and Northeastern University. Before studying architecture, Kim was a sculptor and also worked as a custom furniture fabricator, where he discovered his respect for wood. He earned a master’s degree of architecture from Harvard University and a BFA from Bard College.
